Jerry Benis

Jerry Benis, 83 passed away July 21, 2026. Preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Benis; parents, Sanford and Sylvia Benis. Survived by sons, David (Laurie) Benis and Joel Benis; grandchildren, Dana Bowen and Jeremy (Morgan) Benis; great grandchildren, Jamie and Laurel Bowen, and Roman Benis; nieces, Leah (Jewel Butler) Palestrant and Jamie Silber; many cousins and friends. Jerry practiced dentistry for over 50 years in the Columbus area and loved by his patients and staff. He was a devoted member of Congregation Tifereth Israel by finding his joy in teaching the next generation the values of Jewish tradition; however, his greatest joy was being with his family. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 23 at New Agudas Achim Cemetery, 2565 Performance Way, Columbus. Shiva will be observed at the home of Judy Canowitz from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Thursday, July 23 with Minyan at 6:30 pm.
