Sondra Beverly Feinstein Osipow, born July 8, 1936, passed away on November 20, 2015. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Sam; her children, Randy, Reva and David; her grandchildren, Allie, Justin and Cassidy. Preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Mildred Feinstein; her brother, Marvin and son, Jay. Sondra graduated from Hunter High in NYC in 1953 with honors. She attended Hunter College and graduated from Syracuse University in 1957 with a B.A. in Math Education. She and Sam were married on August 26, 1956. Sondra was active her entire adult life in many Jewish organizations and a long-time member of Congregation Tifereth Israel where she served as a board member and chairwoman of many committees. She was past President of the Ohio/Kentucky branch of Sisterhood of Conservative Judaism and Treasurer of the local Vaad Hoir. Recipient of the Centennial Award of Honor from the Jewish Theological Seminary. Sondra was a long time donor and volunteer for the Red Cross blood drives and was proud member of the Ten Gallon Club, volunteered for Meals on Wheels and Voicecorps. She was employed by McGraw Hill Publishing as Math text book editor for 17 years and also taught high school math. Sondra enjoyed traveling to new places including, Alaska, England, France, Belgium, Holland, Hawaii, New Zealand, Australia, Mexico, Canada, Costa Rica and Panama Canal. She was a frequent traveler to Israel, and she resided there for 3 months in 1972 and made lengthy visits in 1993, 1996 and 1998. She lived in Syracuse, NY, Abilene, TX, Madison, WI, Boston, MA and State College, PA before moving to Columbus in 1967. She was a well-known cook and baker and she shared her love of food and entertaining with everyone she knew and many she didn’t. She never wanted anyone to be alone on a holiday so she opened her home to students and new people all the time. Her departure leaves a hole in the life of everyone who knew her. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, November 22 at EPSTEIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 3232 E. Main St. with Rabbi Harold Berman officiating. Burial will follow at New Tifereth Israel Cemetery. Shiva will be observed at the Osipow residence on Sunday from 5 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank in her memory.
