Ruth Stern Obituary (1927 - 2012)

Ruth Stern, age 84, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2012. Preceded in death by husband, Herbert G. Stern, sister, Joan Hattenbach and brother, Norman Mathless. Survived by her sons, John Stern and David Stern; brother, Gene (Betty) Mathless; brother-in-law, Ira Hattenbach; sister-in-law, Janis Mathless; many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. Ruth graduated with honors from The Ohio State University Business College in 1949. She retired from Mathless and Mathless Accounting where she worked for her brothers, Norman and Gene whom she referred to as "the boys." Ruth enjoyed bowling, playing cards, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Thanks to the staff at Yorkland Park Care Center for their wonderful care and compassion. Funeral service 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 9th at Congregation Agudas Achim, 2767 E. Broad St. Bexley with Rabbi Mitchell Levine officiating. Interment New Agudas Achim Cemetery. Shiva will be observed at Ruth's home on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to a charity of donor's choice.
