May 10, 1943 - January 2, 2016
Ralph Lewis Krasik, age 72, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2016 in Columbus, Ohio, after living gracefully with Parkinson’s Disease for more than 17 years. He died of kidney failure, exhibiting dignity, determination and concern for others even in his final days. Devoted husband and father, accomplished businessman, and dedicated to community, Mr. Krasik was born in Monessen, PA, in 1943 and graduated from Monessen High School in 1961. Upon receiving a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Marietta College in 1965, he married his high school sweetheart, Doris Austin Krasik, and the couple moved to Columbus, Ohio, where they resided for more than 45 years and raised two children. The Krasiks celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in August 2015. After earning his MBA from West Virginia University in 1969, Mr. Krasik became a certified public accountant. Always entrepreneurial and interested in helping others, he ultimately became principal of his own accounting and business consulting firm, Cummins, Krasik & Hohl. During that time, he not only expanded the company’s clientele, but also provided services to small business owners and supported entrepreneurs, including a number of Columbus favorites such as Cameron Mitchell’s and Jeni’s Ice Cream. Mr. Krasik formally retired as a CPA in 2009, but continued working as a business consultant until 2012. Joining his passion for mentoring, sharing his business knowledge, and his interest in the arts, Mr. Krasik served as a board member of the Contemporary American Theater Company and Actor’s Theater. He was also an active member of the Ohio Society of CPAs and of Temple Israel, serving on various volunteer committees. In the final years of his life, and even while facing illness, he continued to serve his community as a leader in residents' councils at Wexner Heritage Village. Mr. Krasik will be deeply missed by his family. He is survived by his wife, Doris Austin Krasik; daughter, Erin Krasik and daughter-in-law, Jumana Dalal, and granddaughter, Anya, of Washington, DC; son, Ryan Krasik, and daughter-in-law, Alicia, of Nauheim, Germany; sisters, Wilma Dalton of Lynnfield, MA, and Davida Rosen of Bellevue, WA; mother, Rosalie, age 100, of Bellevue, WA; and sister-in-law, Sue Ann Austin, of Newington, CT. He is preceded in death by his father, Willard Krasik, who died at age 99 in 2015; his brother-in-law, Milton Austin, of Newington, CT, in 1991; and parents-in-law, Jacob and Fannie Austin, of Fredericktown, PA, who died in 1980. Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Sunday, January 24th at Cameron's American Bistro, 2185 W. Dublin Granville Rd, Worthington, OH 43085. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in his name to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, National Parkinson’s Foundation or March of Dimes, or a charity of choice.
