Hattie Ofengender

Hattie Ofengender, age 101, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2009. She is survived by her nieces, Rebecca Ofengender of Indianapolis, Sara Weinstein of Northbrook, IL, and nephew, Joe Ofengender of Indianapolis, and 5 grand nieces and nephews. Hattie is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Sara, sister, Lena, and brothers, Ben and Abe. Hattie was born in Bellaire, OH and moved to Columbus in 1952. She has been a member of Beth Jacob Congregation since 1952. Hattie, along with her sister Lena, were presented the Pearl of Wisdom Award in 2000 by Beth Jacob Congregation, which recognized them as Outstanding Women of Valor. Graveside service 4 PM Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at New Beth Jacob Cemetery, with Rabbi Naphtali Weisz and Cantor Jeff Siegel officiating. Shiva will be observed at Creekside at the Village.
