Mrs. Florlyn Rinkov Freedman, 85, of Bexley passed away on September 27, 2012, surrounded by her beloved niece, Rhonda (Steve) Brazina and dear friends, Elisa Hornstein and Barbara Kolada. A lifelong resident of Columbus she was born to the late Jack and Katherine Rinkov on September 12, 1927. She was the wife of the late, Lawrence Freedman for 42 years and his constant caregiver in the final years of his life. A child of the Great Depression, Florlyn helped raise both of her brothers upon the early passing of their mother. She served her country proudly during the Second World War and retired from government after 40 years of service at DSCC. She was a faithful member of Congregation Tifereth Israel and member of the Columbus JCC for more than 60 years. She is survived by her beloved brother, Al "Butch" Rinkov; nephews, Jeffrey (Dorlee) Rinkov, Steve Rinkov and Alan Freedman; great nieces and great nephews, Hannah, Sam, Ethan, Danielle and Michelle. She will be missed by her family and friends for her strength of character and positive attitude through life's travails. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Sunday, September 30th at THE EPSTEIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 3232 E. Main St. with Rabbi Harold Berman and Cantor Jack Chomsky officiating. Burial will follow at New Tifereth Israel Cemetery. Shiva will be observed at The Columbus Jewish Community Center, 1125 College Ave. on Sunday from 3-6pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Columbus Jewish Community Center or Congregation Tifereth Israel in her memory.
