Ervin Berlinger

Ervin Berlinger 93, passed away peacefully February 22, 2022 at his home in Carmel IN. He was born in Columbus OH on April 29, 1928 to Morris and Rose Berlinger. He was raised in Columbus, went to South High School and lived there until 1968 when he and his family moved to the Indianapolis area. Ervin enlisted in the US Army and then attended Ohio State on the GI bill where he graduated with an accounting degree. He initially worked as an auditor/accountant for the IRS, and then became a Savings and Loan bank examiner. Erv then in 1968 he accepted a position of District Director of the Federal Home Loan Bank board in Indianapolis Indiana. He retired in 1983. He and his second wife Cora then bought a winter home around Venice/Osprey Florida. When not in Florida, they did a lot of traveling around the country and abroad. Ervin was a family man, and dearly loved spending time with his daughters step daughters, grandchildren children, and great -grandchildren. He was kind, generous, and always gave great advice. He was proud of his Jewish heritage as both of his parents were from Russia, met when they immigrated to the US in the early 1900’s. Erv was the youngest of their four children. He was proceeded in death by is parents, as well as all his siblings including sister Sylvia ( Rieser), and brothers Harry and Max. Erv leaves behind four daughters Sheri Carte, Lori Garling, Lisa Drayer, and Betsy Berlinger, and Stepdaughter Allison Oswalt. Erv has ten Grand Children (Dustin Wasson, Jill West, Jordan West, Logan Carte, Anabel Rodriguez, Rosalie Rodriguez, Juniper Rodriguez, Daisy Rodriguez, Sammy Rodriguez) as well as 10 Great grandchildren. He is also proceeded in death by his second wife Cora ( McCoy) Berlinger( married 38 years), Marilyn Berlinger(mother of his four daughters), Chad Wasson (grandson), Caleb Wasson(Great grandson), Pam Frazier( stepdaughter). Graveside service to be held at 2:30pm, Wednesday, February 23, New Agudas Achim Cemetery, 2565 Performance Way, Columbus. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local VA.
