Bernard Belasco Obituary (1916 - 2008)

Bernard Belasco, 91, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2008, surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Lucille. Bernard is survived by his sons Steven (Linda) Belasco of California and Alan (Elena) Belasco of Westerville, Ohio, his grandchildren Joshua Belasco of California, Lisa (fiancé Douglas) Belasco of Salem, Mass., Sarah (Joshua) Hayman of Baltimore, Maryland, and Matthew (Ashley) Belasco of Lancaster, Ohio. Mr. Belasco was born in Philadelphia in 1916 and moved to Venice, FL for 20 years before coming to Columbus. He served in the Army as a Master Sergeant in the Philippines during WWII and was an active member of the Jewish War Veterans, and Temple Beth Sholom in Sarasota, FL. Bernard was a HAM Radio Operator and a published author in Chicken Soup for the Veteran?s Soul. He worked as an elementary school principal in the Joseph Leidy School in Philadelphia for 23 years. Burial will take place in Sarasota, FL.
