Belle Shook Obituary (1914

Belle Slutsky Shook, age 93, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania passed away on December 30, 2007 in Columbus, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Herbert Morris Shook of 60 years, son Richard, and brothers Max, Ruben, Morris and Al. Belle was a life long member of Rodef Shalom Temple and the National Council of Jewish Women. She attended the University of Pittsburgh. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and special friend to all that knew her. Volunteer work, garden club and bridge were her passions. Above all else was the importance of her family. Belle is survived by her daughter, Lois Becker; son, Robert (Elinor) Shook; daughter, Nancy (Bruce) Meyer; eight grandchildren, Mary Jane (Joel) Levin, Jennifer (Arthur) Weisman, Carrie (Peter) Coolidge, Robert (Elisabeth) Shook, Michael (Sarah) Shook, Jeffrey (Debra) Meyer, Jonathan (Karen) Meyer, Matthew (Mia) Meyer; eighteen great grandchildren, Ava Levin; Andrew and Matthew Weisman; Paige and Grace Coolidge; Jacob, Jamie, Jeremy, Sawyer and Avery Shook; Chad, Joshua, William, Sydney, Maxwell, Andrea, Robert and Eli Meyer; Sister Yetta (Seymour) Farber, loving nieces and nephews. We feel blessed to have had Belle in our lives for her unconditional love. She served as a wonderful role model. Services at Ralph Schugar Chapel, Inc. 5509 Centre Avenue, Shadyside on Wednesday at 8:30 AM. NO PRIOR VISITATION. Interment West View Cemetery of Rodef Shalom Congregation. Shiva will be observed at the home of Nancy and Bruce Meyer in Columbus on Thursday, January 3rd, January 4th before the Sabbath and January 5th after the Sabbath.
